Origin
Khaboos/Khubz, a kind of pita bread, has been eaten by people for generations. Leavened flatbread called pita is a staple in the Mediterranean and North African diets. The bread was traditionally baked in round loaves, although now there is a wide variety of forms available.
Khaboos dates back to the days when bread was baked in earthen ovens. Some Middle Eastern countries still utilize clay ovens to make pita bread. It’s common practice to bake pita bread in a hot air convection oven. It’s versatile enough to be filled with meat, veggies, or cheese. or stuffed into a sandwich and served.
Originally referring to the bread consumed there, the name “khubz” eventually came to be associated with the clay ovens used to bake it.
