Origin
The origin of doughnuts is unclear, but it is believed that the first doughnuts were created in the Netherlands in the 16th century. Dutch settlers brought their recipe for oily cakes to the United States, where the first modern doughnut with a hole in the center was created in 1847 by Elizabeth Gregory. The doughnut’s popularity grew during World War I, and today it is a beloved pastry enjoyed in many varieties all over the world.

Taste
The vanilla flavour in a doughnut is subtle, but it adds a sweet and fragrant aroma to the pastry. The texture of the doughnut is soft and chewy, with a crispy exterior that provides a satisfying crunch. The sweetness of the doughnut is balanced with a slight nuttiness from the fried dough, making it an irresistible treat.
Shelf Life/Preservation
The shelf life of a vanilla doughnut depends on how it is stored. If left at room temperature, it will typically last for 1-2 days. However, it can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. To preserve the freshness of the doughnut, it is recommended to consume it within a few days of purchase.
